Huyck Architects, founded by a father-daughter team, combine their passion for architecture with structural integrity.
Richard Huyck is both an architect and a structural engineer. He established the firm of Richard J. Huyck & Associates, Engineers – Architects which focused primarily on large industrial projects such as paper mills and food processing plants. He emphasizes structure as an art form – the details often manifesting themselves before the general layout is apparent. Engineering systems are integrated into this initial design.
Nancy Huyck grew up working in her father’s firm and started her own architectural practice in Aptos, Nancy Huyck Architect, to focus on residential and small commercial projects. Prior to starting her own firm, she spent four years working in Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts where she was exposed to a variety of construction and building types. Her goal is always that of simplicity; distilling the design to its greatest efficiency.
